Bikes & Beer

Last year the Valley Veterans Ride for Heroes wanted to spice the ride up to build interest. The suggestion to move the start and finish from Gypsy Hill Park to Stable Craft Brewery was suggested and a beautiful match was made.

Stable Craft sits in the heart of Hermitage along quiet roads among the rolling fields of Augusta County outside of Waynesboro and not far from I-64 and I-81. Talking about the event with owners Craig and Nikki Nargi the idea to create a beer dedicated to the ride came up. VFW Post Commander Al Scott took up home brewing after serving in Germany and jumped at the chance to work with brew master Issac Peglow to make a whet beer, his personal favorite and perfect for the season.

In July 2019 Al, Gene Chavis, and Melissa Patrick went to Stable Craft and mixed the ingredients in time for them to work their magic to be ready to serve for the ride in September.

Tour of Duty was a big hit for the riders "recovery" after the ride drink. We're looking forward to working with Stable Craft again to create a new beer for 2020. What style beer would you like and suggest a new name. Save the date, September 12, 2020 for this year's ride and release of a new beer to celebrate veterans and the ride.
